Spirit Airlines drops the Spirit Stick

After canceling two flights to NYC last night I got the pleasure of dealing with spirit airlines. After paying $79 dollars for my baggage and making my way thru security - ignorant American central - I learned my flight was delayed 4 hrs. Usually I'd grit and bare but not when a international excursion is at risk. Here's where handy dandy iPhone comes in.. Spirit.com says an additional 2 hr delay and there's a flight available on southwest (superman of the day). So with 40 minutes til take off, buy flight (I'll pay you back dad!) pace eagerly and somewhat impatiently for bag to be removed from spirit truck, jump in dads car, 20 minutes to go.. Speed to other terminal.. Not another passenger in site. Southwest even throws in a tote bag to balance out my luggage weight. Get to gate with 15 minutes to go, free alcoholic drink coupon in tow, and even have a chance to sit for 5 minutes til they begin boarding.. Boarding group A, position 6.

Spirit airlines rules, everyone else drools.

insert peace sign

China trip starts.... NOW!

yes, yes, yes.

“The Invitation”
It does not interest me what you do for a living
I want to know what you ache for
if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing

It does not interest me how old you are
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive

It does not interest me what planets are squaring your moon
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shriveled and closed
from fear of further pain

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us

to be careful and wild and gentle
to remember the limitations of being human

If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless and faithful
and therefore trustworthy

I want to know if you can see beauty
even when it is not beautiful
see it every minute of every day
And if you can source your own life
from its presence

I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,

It does not interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away

I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments

It does not interest me who you know
or how you came to be here
I want to know if you will stand
in the center of the fire with me
and never shrink back

yes please!

Snack for thought

Dear lady I do not know,
For whatever reason I chose you to sit next to on January 3rd on my southwest flight home,
& for whatever reason no one sat in the middle seat on a crowded holiday flight.
& for whatever reason you could overhear my upset-ness and saw the tears I kept wiping away.
& for whatever reason, you found that part of your heart to reach out to me and assure me that everything was going to be okay.
& for whatever reason, you assumed I was strong, smart, beautiful & brave.
& for whatever reason, you told me those things and smiled for me.
To that lady, thank you. I finally believe you.

Never be intimidated to show love to a stranger

cannot wait!

I stole it from my sweet sorority sister www.lileemarie.blogspot.com

"Chocolate Eclair Cake

1 box graham crackers
2-(3 1/4-ounce) boxes instant French vanilla pudding
3 cups milk
1 lg. container Cool Whip, thawed
1 container of chocolate frosting

Mix pudding and milk until thickened. Fold in Cool Whip until blended well. Set aside. Layer bottom of 9 x 13 baking dish with whole graham crackers. Pour half the pudding mixture over graham crackers. Layer again with graham crackers, rest of pudding mixture, then top with whole graham crackers again. Remove foil top from frosting container, and heat in microwave for 15-25 seconds (to melt for easier spreading). Pour icing and spread evenly over top of graham crackers. Refrigerate overnight. Enjoy!

Psalm 22:26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the LORD will praise him; may your hearts live forever. "

'你好' [nǐ hǎo].

in just 3 days, I am going to China!

GW and I leave Tampa at 6:45am to Chicago, and then Chicago to Beijing. 13hrs and 29 minutes later, we will arrive. the fear I have traveling with GW is that the girl can sleep n-e-where. she used to fall asleep at our kitchen table with the television on and an iPod playing, and I don't think the roomies and I ever woke her up with our late-night antics. I am picturing we arrive in Beijing, she is fully rested - probably slept 13hrs and 14 minutes, and I have not slept at all! eek. I cannot ever sleep on planes.
we do not have much planned, her sister in law has RSVP'd for us to an event at the Embassy, my invitation was labeled "Ambassador AJ" when I got it in my e-mail. Pretty posh. We want to hike around, go to the markets, see the sights - but it will be very interesting with a complete language barrier, especially with the 4 people we know there having jobs so we will be unaccompanied wandering the streets for parts of our days. in all seriousness, we are excited, but a little intimidated. I am praying for safety, health & sunshine, and of course fun!

welcome home

Dear Colton,

You are here! With much anticipation you have arrived to two wonderful parents and even more wonderful families. We are all so excited to watch you grow, prosper and become the stud athlete you are destined to be. You have been given to two dear friends of mine who have been in my life for over 20 years. I was there the night they met, the night they got engaged, the night they got married and the night they found out you were a him. Your grandpa Ted was my favorite softball coach and grandma De used to cheer your mom and I in volleyball when we were in middle school and at Florida State. Speaking of Florida State, you will go & you will love it - the only exception will be for the Ivy Leagues. Your Aunt Tracy and I used to drive together & occasionally get in the tinciest amount of trouble, your Uncle Justin was in my mom's class, our bonds are deep! As my birthday twin, we already have a big deal of a bond and I promise to be the cool Auntie A.D.Jay.

I will be there for you, support you, pray for you and look out for you. Fort Lauderdale can be a tough place to grow up so do not be afraid to look to the Godly community you have been placed in for accountability and example.

I am so excited to see the man you will become. Love you Tank

During a recent password audit at a company, it was found that a blonde receptionist was using the following password: MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofySacramento When asked why she had such a long password, she said she was told that it had to be at least 8 characters long and include at least one capital.

Sushi, Sangria, Footloose, Fiji & Champagne

shout out to jordie for today's post!
Jord always has good nails. she can pull off pretty much any color. one time in college right before spring break Sun (honeysuckle's nail guy) convinced her to do lime green - or maybe one of her roommates offered to pay for it if they could pick the color - I am not 100% sure. But Sun became one of their good friends, he even invited Jordan on his family's vacation - her own seat in the van and all! anywho, nailpolish is just another reason that being a girl is fun, and who doesnt love fun?
I've always been a nail polish gal, when we started going to indian princesses we'd buy black and come home to our mother's horror. what kind of 7 year old girls want their nails black (it also matched our black lipstick, we were weird, we know.) hard candy was my first love. I would beg and plead with my mom to buy me the ugliest colors just to get those rubber rings. I remember sushi which was bright teal, still my favorite - and I think I found the color posted up top. I would literally change my nail polish color every night in junior high - I thought I was so cool. when we would make it to playoffs for volleyball we'd change our color for every game - neon green for regional finals, white with sparkles was for states..

As I get older (dang) I still love having bright colors on my fingers & toes. I don't like to match, it feels too serious. My friends sometimes make fun of me for having red fingers and pink toes but it's just another quirk I suppose they love me for. I tried acrylics, but they look weird on my hands, dark colors just don't suite my dedos or dedos de pies. my all time favorite color is OPI Sangria
Followed closely by ESSIE's Footloose

Who is followed by Fiji that has to be topped with Imported Champagne
stay fun

thank you hungry girl

Red HOT!
These cupcakes are so moist, so delicious, so RED, and so completely guilt-free, that writing extra words to introduce this recipe would be a complete and total waste of everyone's time. So here ya go... HG's Red Velvet Insanity Cupcakes!

For Frosting
6 tbsp. Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme
6 tbsp. Cool Whip Free, thawed
1/4 cup fat-free cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp. Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (granulated)

For Cupcakes
1 cup Pillsbury Moist Supreme Reduced Sugar Cake Mix, Devil's Food**
1 cup Pillsbury Moist Supreme Reduced Sugar Cake Mix, Classic Yellow**
Two 25-calorie diet hot cocoa mix packets
1/2 cup fat-free liquid egg substitute (like Egg Beaters)
1/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
1/2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (granulated)
1/8 tsp. salt

Place half of your chocolate chips (2 tbsp.) and the contents of both cocoa packets in a tall glass. Add 12 ounces of boiling water, and stir until chips and cocoa mix have dissolved. Place glass in the freezer until mixture is cold (about 30 minutes). Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together marshmallow creme, cream cheese, and 1 tbsp. Splenda until smooth. Fold in Cool Whip. Place bowl in the fridge to chill until cupcakes are ready to be frosted. Once the cocoa in the freezer has chilled, give it a stir, and pour it into a large mixing bowl. Add the cake mixes, egg substitute, remaining chocolate chips, red food coloring, 1 tsp. Splenda, and salt. Using a whisk or fork, mix batter for about 2 minutes (until smooth and blended). Batter will be thin, but don't worry, your cupcakes will puff up once baked! Line a 12-cup muffin pan with baking cups, and spray lightly with nonstick spray (or simply spray the pan with nonstick spray). Evenly spoon batter into the pan. Place pan in the oven, and bake for 15 - 20 minutes. Cupcakes will look shiny when done. Once cupcakes have cooled completely, evenly spread the frosting over them. Enjoy! MAKES 12 SERVINGS

Has anyone ever told you that you look like a certain kind of animal? Back when I played travel volleyball we would spend countless hours & matches that we were "reffing" (which when you combine any group of girls age 13-18 and expect them to watch a game rather than compare their schools, lives, loves, etc. is setting them up to be hated by more than one over zealous soccer mom. or just make the call in favor of the team you've already beat or the team that doesn't have some beef agaist yours..) we would pick apart every player on their team and decide what kind of animal they resembled. They were then donned that animal as their name - still to this day if one of the girls asked me who ant eater was, I could tell them #7 from USA south purple 17s (creepy memory I know).

I have always gotten golden retriever or the occassional lion. I take it as a compliment because I love my goldens :) and they are known for being loyal, protective companions (who also shed and hate being alone - take the good with the bad)

here are some web examples:
this could be my 5th grade teacher's twin!!!
this guy looks creepily like one of my co-workers..
oh Dwight..

next time your in a crowd - this game works in any setting - i betcha start pairing people up!

so who is your animal counter-part? don't be embarassed...

Y gold for goldens :)

post every 4 months.. eek.

its been a few months since i posted, seems like everytime my life takes a big change i post a few times and then oopsies i forget.

I recently started working for a fund management company. I work with our properties and keeping our investors happy & in the loop, as well as most of the accounting - which for someone who got their only C in college in Financial Accounting - is quite daunting. but my boss has something in me that I've never really felt in other jobs - CONFIDENCE. he trusts me to make decisions about a lot of things and has never doubted my abilities. it is a nice feeling to have some stability in my life - well at least in my professional career.

in 12 days, GW and I are going to CHINA!!! one of her brothers lives there with his new wife & my sister's sister-in-law & husband also live there (in Beijing). I am so excited, I have never traveled anywhere with such a language barrier. we are pretty sure we are going to get lost everyday, but at least we'll be able to see over everyone's heads to find our way :) I recently watched an Oprah about cultural beauty & in China, tall people are considered successful and women want to look like Barbie. okay well I have the height, and I dont think I am anywhere as pretty as Barbie would be - but I do have blonde hair! GW is pretty tall too & she is blonde.. oh man, I am just really pumped.

I have a new career dream - paint studio!

I am sad about something but I feel like posting about it is just dwelling on it, and that is not my style.
